Thanks for trying Cherilyn, I know they are there somewhere, I'll try cemetery and church records next.

Best wishes from soggy Victoria.

Hi Catherine

Sorry to hear you are in the flooding area, Australia has had quite a run of bad luck with the weather lately! Fires over here in the west causing much heartache.

Think I have found Sarah's death but no luck with the others I'm afraid:

Surname: MCPHERSON
Given Names: Jane
Event: D
Father: Angus
Mother: Jane MCDONALD
Age: 16
Birth Place: U
Year: 1880
Reg Number: 10987

Hello Cherilyn,
I'm hoping with your fresh eyes and experience you can help me where I am stuck. My g-g-grandparents Angus McPherson and Christina McDonald were married in 1863 in Sandford Victoria. Christina died 1886 in Portland, Vic. Her death certificate gives 5 children: James (dec) Sarah, age 19, Angus 18, Jessie 16 and Jane (dec). I have found birth records for Jane and Jessie (birth name Margaret, later known as Jessie Margaret married name McBean) but none for the others. I know from family records that my grandmother Sarah (she was always known as Sarah Ann) was born 21 June 1867 but I can't find any record for her birth, or Angus or James's birth. I believe Jane (Jeannie) may have died in1880 but I can't find a death record for her or her brothers either. I've tried the Victorian BDM's and the Australian Death Index. I've used every variation I can think of - every spelling, searching under mother's name, parents first names but no luck. I'm hoping you can help, or tell me what I am doing wrong.
It's 6:20 p.m. Saturday now; I will hang around for as long possible and keep checking back. If I don't give a reply straight away it's only because the house has flooded (again, ugh).
Regards, Catherine.

An Elizabeth HUNTER married Frederick J RIVERS in Orange NSW in 1903? Looks like Frederick died in 1929. Maybe too early.

Sorry ,Cherilyn. Iam a silly woman !!1 Her name was Florence Hunter and she was born in Belfast but lived with her dad in England when she emigrated both times. The Ship docked at Sydney but I believe she went to stay with cousins whose name was Rivers. Later we were told she nursed in Brisbane but I don't know if that was the first time she was there or the second.

I wonder if you can help me. I am trying to find what happened to my aunt. She emigrated to Australia arriving on a ship called BARADINE in 1923. Then she was sent home ill the year Australia crashed then she returned in to Australia in 1938/1939.. It is believed she trained as a nurse over there I also believe she never married She was born in 1903 in Northern Ireland . It would be good to know what happened to her. I know she will have passed away by now. Iwould be grateful if you can help....E

Morning Cherilyn, I have just downloaded the Death Cert for Valentine Wallace (except for the payment it was a vey painless experience). Wish they were so quick over here.

I am convinced it is my Valentine as it gives his occupation as Stone Mason, born Yorkshire and been in Australia 37 yrs. unfortunately no personal info about father or wife, but does say he was married.

I do know his original wife was in England in April 1891 (census) and I suspect she was back by 1881, that is if she went at all! Though I have never been able to find her in 1861 or 71. So maybe she did go but got fed up and came home.

Anyway thanks and glad I have found him as he was the last of that family I had to track down

Regards Jennifer

Hi Valerie

Possible immigration from findmypast? He was travelling with other WILKINS'. I don't have full access to tell you who though, sorry, but looks like Mr T Wilkins b. 1855 and female M Wilkins b. 187,. i.e. not his parents.

WILKINS J 1884 M 1905 London Australia Sydney

2 possible marriages in Sydney?:
11788/1909 WILKINS JAMES RAYNER SARAH MUDGEE
5002/1916 WILKINS JAMES MACNEVIN AILEEN SYDNEY

No matching deaths found.

There is a birth for Lorna M WILKINS in 1926 in Perth, reg 3187. But from her engagement notice in 1950 she was the daughter of Mr & Mrs G E M Wilkins of Carlisle.

Sorry I can't offer more.
