So at least 2 people from Chat/Gen board chosen for this outing in London and 1 asked to pick 3 more people.

As I told George in Westbury on my thread .

They wouldnt want the likes of over on here as we dont frequent Chat or Gen !

Now proved right...Again.

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

this new pm'ing system

so far, EVERY pm today that I have received ....... I have clicked on the name of the sender, not the TITLE

and 90% of the ones I've sent, I've clicked on Save to Draft instead of on Submit

I have figured out why I'm doing the latter .................. here on the threads Submit is to the right of the box

on the pms it's to the left!

I'm such a slow learner some times!!!

We didnt have a radio when I was little, just one of those old tvs in box thing with one knob!

Think we got one with 2 knobs in 1969 and could watch itv or bbc then.

I first saw colour tv in 1972.

My mother didnt go much on tv or radio,it stopped us working..

I am clicking on the senders name too in the PM bit....so annoying

Me and JB have just been laughing at the sample survey of 16 people out of millions of members

And who will they be...I bet you could pick 16 members names that would be the last of your choices

GR....Just send us all an email with a survey form attached...we fill it in, you collate it and make conclusions

....and then, you could ask a small number of members to attend meetings

Derrr....come on GR, just who are these Experienced Market' researchers...do they know about 'quantitative' and 'qualitative' data?

Get yourselves a group of final year uni students...they'll do a crackin job and do it free ;)

Mornin all...

Dea Report 16 Jul 2010 07:37

OOh lots of lovely childhood memories have come in overnight - I remember all those things - the cocktail cigarettes, pop bottles, soda syphons, and Michaels rag + bone man (how many of us secretly took out 'not so old' clothes from the family wardrobe so we could get that goldfish??)

Tinned fruit salad and carnation cream was a special sunday treat for us too - the 'old people' always used to have slices of bread and butter with it Urrgghh !!

Sylvia's memory of the bomb dropping was a scarey one - thankfully I missed out on that by a few years.

You are right about writing these things down Ginny - I was telling little grand-daughter about not having a bathroom and having to go to an outside shed for the toilet - she was absolutely fascinated - especially by the 'no bath' bit. She asked - 'were you just smelly then'? - I hastened to add the info about the old tin bath in the kitchen and boiling kettles on the fire grate to fill it.

She keeps asking for more and more on 'the Olden Days'

It's true Dea. kids lover the old stories

I remember dad telling me about the dentist van that used to come around the streets and you went to it (much like the ice cream van!) and had your teeth done

Dad said that you always knew when it was on your street as you could hear people screaming in pain as they pulled teeth without any anaesthetic!

And mom used to tell me stories about the Ku Klux Klan where she grew up in NJ.....err nope she wasnt a member!

Ouch....

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 16 Jul 2010 08:27

Gosh. Don't remember the dentist's van. Although I suppose I could say "Fangs for the memory" couldn't I???

OH remembers the milk man coming round with a horse and cart with churns of milk on the back. I only remember bottles of milk and the way the birds used to peck the tops off occasionally. He also vaguely remembers sitting crouched in an air shelter as a little boy with his hands tightly clasped together as if at prayer....ah....then he got evacuated with his mum, to that place where Fans lives.....or at least the North of that country. What's it called now?

Um..

Er....

Oh yes.....

Wales!

Knew I'd heard of it before somewhere.

Ku Klux Klan........? Mmmm. Gins would look quite fetching under a white sheet methinks!!

Re the Market research thread. There is nothing to stop any of us using the email address concerned and voicing our opinions......I already have. If enough of us do that, it may have an effect on the outcome.....okay, I said 'it may' - but at least we will have made the effort!

Off for a shower...then ironing...then shopping...then lunch...then here...then hairdressers....then here..... cor...it's all go innit??

While Cyns is off having her blue rinse...

Yeah mom said that one night the Ku Klux Klan burned a cross outside their neighbours appartment block. He was Jewish and there was rumour he was upping the rents and the KKK didnt agree!

White sheets quite suit me Cyns....but I can never get the eye holes in the right place

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 16 Jul 2010 14:23

At first glance, I thought you said 'little hot Spanish Fudge' Irene.......I was going to reply 'yes please' lol

So Ginny, you think I have a blue rinse do you? Maybe you think I also wear a twinset with pearls????? On yer bike. Mind you, I have got some pearls I inherited from my mum. It seems as though they should be worn often as contact with the skin keeps the pearls in good condition. However, I thought wearing pearls whilst doing the housework was a little ostentatious!!

Just time to check Records and Tips boards before I go and get beautified.......not beatified!

I dont think that last word you said there Cyn will be in the offing anyways,so no worries there.

But could you imagine people praying to Saint Cyn???
