In the 1841 census John Frudd aged 90 was living with Luke and Elizabeth (nee Frudd) Dawson in Barugh, Yorkshire. As Elizabeth was only 25(ish) I'm not sure if John was her father or grandfather. John Frudd died 26 July 1842 aged 90. Does anyone have these Frudds in their tree? |

Thanks Patchem, I've now sent off a message to someone with John in their tree. I haven't put him on mine yet as I'm still trying to find the connection. |

According to a tree on Ancest** Elizabeth's mother was Ann Frudd 1787 Mirfield, Yorkshire, England |

Thanks Mel, this is why I am confused. If she was christened in 1806 all the ages she gave in the census 1841 through to 1891 were 10 years out! and she should have been born 1815/6. If she married Luke in Feb 1831 then her census ages meant she was only 15 when she married. |

I think you could get married at 15 but not sure if it was around 1831 though. You could get married at the age of 12 at one time. |

Marriages before 1837 never seem to have the fathers names on them so the marriage cert would'nt help in that score. |

And don't forget people in those days did'nt keep their birthdays like we do today. Most of them could'nt read or write and would just say a year out of the top of their heads. |

John Frudd was a separate entry |

Another possibility is that the Elizabeth Frudd born 1806 died and then the same name was given to a daughter born later. |

According to those trees, John had a daughter Elisabeth but she died as a child |

If Elizabeth had been born in 1806, she would have been 52 when she had Walter. Not impossible, but very unlikely. |

Luke Dawson and Elizabeth frudd are my 4xgreat grand parents following the line of their son Henry his son Allen then on to Richard Dawson and on to my grand mother Margaret Dawson (married name Taylor) I appear to have hit a brick wall though in getting any further with the parents or siblings of Luke the trail just seems to dry up. I shall keep plodding on though till I succeed. |
