Could anyone help please with information on John S Bird born 1871 Norfolk UK my great grandfather. I don't know what the S stands for, usually the names of ancestors are carried down the line but cant find an S in the family tree and I cant find the date of his death.
Many Thanks Sandy

Hi Sandy
If he is your great grandfather then I guess you know who he married?
Suggest you look for the marriage on FreeBMD:
https://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl
A lot of the marriages are showing two Forenames.
Regards Christine

In your tree on genes you have him as born 1872 in Wood Norton, so this birth?
Births Mar 1872 Bird John Aylsham 4b 79
(Birth could be at end of 1871, and registered in 1872)

Is the 1901 census the only time that he is recorded as John S Bird?

The 1911 shows Florence as Florence Eliza Nash from Coleford, so this birth:
Births Jun 1869) Nash Florence Eliza Monmouth 11a 31
but John records himself and signs as John Bird.
Do you know if Florence died in Yorkshire, whilst John returned to Norfolk - they do not appear to be together in 1939?
Added: Correction, they might both be together in Kiveton Park, just the record appears to be locked - can anyone with FMP have a look?
