The only George Fitton that I can see with a connection to Salford born around 1817 is this one but he can't be your ancestor as he died aged one:- |

Thank you all so much for your efforts trying to trace info about George Fittons parents.I can now confirm that he was born in 1801 and he married Elizabeth Sant from Winsford Cheshire. He then settled in Winsford and they had a lot of children.I live in Winsford as did the rest of my family, so there only seems to be George who had roots in Manchester.I found him on my family tree when I requested to view a tree which belonged to a relative of Elizabeth Sant, Georges wife. Hannah Fitton and William Fitton, also Sarah were the names of just a few of his children. |

When you say he was born in 1801, do you mean born or christened - and do you have documentary proof? |

Thanks all.Yes the info that u have all found def sounds like my relative George Fitton. So pleased to feel that im getting somewhere.Like u say there is different birth dates for him, but when I looked him up on the census it said 1801, and thats the date that was given when I asked Elizabeth Sants relative permission to view her tree.He definatly had children called William, Eliza and Hannah because I saw them on the tree that I was viewing and I saw on the census that he lived in Over Lane Winsford. Thanks Argyllgran for suggesting that Charles and Anne could be his parents that im trying to trace.I will follow that lead up. |

There's also this Christening at Widness to a William and Ellen. Beings at it was 1st February he could have been born in 1799. |

I think George may have married again at the ripe old age of 74 a Widower himself and marrying a widow Elizabeth Gandy 72. |
