Hello
looking for the marriage of Albert Pratt 1852=1909 born Deepings Lincolnshire
to Elizabeth ------1856 - ?.
The 1871 census shows him living in Lincolnshire then in the 1881 census he was living in Bradford with wife Elizabeth and family so did he marry in Lincolnshire or Bradford Yorkshire?........no idea when he moved to Bradford or why?

Thanks Barry

yes, we've already found this information

reason for move???

As always was .................... to where the jobs were.

There were huge movements of people from agricultural areas to industrial areas ............ Bradford was already had a number of industries, but wool became God

Google

This is just one of the references

Irregardless of this .............. our ancestors always moved around much more than anyone might think.

Agricultural labourers moved from farm to farm

Young men and women moved to a bigger village/ town /city to become servants, apprentices, etc etc.

It always comes down to ................. bettering themselves.

To find out when he moved to Bradford ............... look at

date of marriage

date and place of birth of children

move will be between date of last event in Lincolnshire and date of first birth in Bradford.

He was in Lincolnshire on 2nd April for the 1871 census and he married in Bradford between October and December 1873, so he must have moved sometime between those dates.

This looks like his marriage:-

First name(s) ALBERT
Last name PRATT
Marriage quarter 4
Marriage year 1873
Registration month -
MarriageFinderâ„¢ ALBERT PRATT married one of these people
SARAH BERWICK, ELIZABETH ROBINSON
District BRADFORD
District number -
County Yorkshire
Country England
Volume 9B

Record set England & Wales marriages 1837-2008

As Sylvia says, he probably moved from agricultural work to a better paid job in a quarry.
