Nottingham Evening Post - Sunday 11 September 1892
Husband and Wife- William Linney was summoned for assaulting his wife, Elizabeth Linney, on the 3rd inst...complainant stated that defendant came home drunk and threatened her. Shortly afterwards he caught her by the throat and struck her several times. He also threatened to poison her and her children. The magistrates considered the best course was for them to make an order, as the parties seemed to have lived very unhappily together. The defendant agreed to allow his wife 5s a week and the summons was adjourned generally.
