Thank you so much for that info. Did not know he was in the volunteer bridge. I new he did volunteer, and did not wait to be called up. Does that mean he died in UK? I understood he was shot down. Maybe I can find out more about it with his service number |

GG thanks . Maybe he was wounded and came back to Uk. Will have to see if I can find more about the regiment If he died abroad , would they have issued a DC from Lamberth? I think not, so maybe he was based in UK. The family evacuated to Dorset (Sturminster Newton), me included! lily was pregnant, at the time. My mother , me my Aunt and cousin same age as me and Aunt lily .My grandfather drove us there from London and we lived in a rented cottage . I went back once some years ago, but the cottage was no longer there ! Sadly only me left now. |

Pickles Thanks again, very interesting re Granma. As they did own some chalets (Well wooden huts really) outside Whitstable Don;t understand why Doris was put as Johns , as she did not marry until 1943, also if Louisa was there, then daughter Beryl b1937 would also have been there. Maybe some-one has changed Doris name? |
