I've just done a search on ancestry for John Greenall/Greenhaulgh two came up possibly father and son but it has 20 + years apart

RDF-Family member link 1938911 The other 25866 against mothers name
could anyone tell me what this means is their any way of finding the mothers name

The place was Knutsford Cheshire

What years are they so we can look for ourselves

On the face of it it's the refs from where the info was transcribed

Yes those are the ones

On ancestry I put a search in when they come up on the screen before going into them I put my pointer over so I can see the image without viewing properly that is when I see this RDF but pressing to view properly I get what you have shown

I don't know - but as Shirley says, it will be something to do with where the info came from.
As it's been taken from the Family History Library (FHL) - so something to do with that ??

Can't see the image on Ancestry anyway - no image available there. Just the transcription, as already posted.

I've looked at it on FamilySearch (which is FHL) - that RDF number doesn't come up, but there's no mother's name shown on the record. Same as on Ancestry.

What is transcribed is what is on the records .

Older baptisms often only named the father as the mother was less important then

it's very rare, in my experience, to get mother's name on baptisms much before the early 19th century ..... ie, just before July 1 1837

You'd have to try to find a suitable marriage for the putative father

I THINK that Family Member Link on family search means that the information has been taken from information submitted by a member ..............................

no-one knows how accurate that submitted information is, as documents are rarely submitted.

the question is whether John born 1703 OR his father was the Shoemaker!

I posted above (12 Mar 21:07) information from John's baptism in 1703 that his father was a "Husbandman"

and therefore made the assumption that it was John b. 1803 who had married by 1728/29

Unfortunately, I couldn't find a marriage for either his father or himself that mentioned occupation. The only other records that showed occupation were the 2 burials.
