I wonder whether anyone can recommend a researcher who could undertake family history searches in nineteenth-century Slovakia (than part of Austro-Hungary).

Welcome to the boards.

I'd be surprised if anyone could actually recommend anyone, I don't think I've ever seen anyone asking questions about that part of the world.

Have you done any internet searches and why not ask AGRA:
https://www.agra.org.uk/
if they have any contacts they could pass on.

I assume you have come acros this guide:

Might be worth having a look at Cyndi's list -

https://cyndislist.com/alphabetically/c/

They would appear to have records under Czech Republic and Slovakia - says they were updated November 2023

Czechoslovakia - which preceded Czech Republic and Slovakia - didn’t come into existence until 1918

The time-scale of this enquiry is when the area was the Austro-Hungarian Empire, a constitutional monarchy from 1867 till its dissolution in 1918

Thomas did point out that the area was part of the Austro/Hungarian empire at the time.

Yes, I can read ;-) ;-)

Hence, records for Czech Republic etc would not, unfortuately, be applicable.......................
.
However, the following link uses the term 'Czech Republic'...............................

Cyndislist, as referenced by GreyGhost, lumps the Czech Rep and Slovakian records together.
