Hello, could someone please take a look at the burial for the above, buried 1831 on Yorkshire burials at Sleights. Yorkshire (born 1771). This is on FMP. Would like to know if it mentions abode and if it says she is a widow of Charles Constable. Thank you.

No idea if relevant, but there is a marriage on 12/09/1807 at Whitby for Charles Constable, widower, to Elizabeth Young, spinster.

ErikaH Report 22 Jul 2024 08:49

Marriage in 1789 for CC, widower, to Esther Hill, widow, at same church in Whitby

On both records, CC was a labourer

Esther Constable, wife of Charles, labourer, residence Sleights, was buried 11/12/1806 at Eskdaleside, St John

Thank you for the above Erika. I have the marriage to Elizabeth and thought Charles must have previously been married because he is so much older than Elizabeth.
Thank you again.

Wikipedia - Eskdaleside cum Ugglebarnby is a civil parish in the Scarborough district of North Yorkshire, England, comprising the two villages of Sleights and Ugglebarnby

There are 3 burial records on FMP for Charles

NBI - buried 15 April 1823 at St John, Eskdaleside (Transcript only)
NBI - buried 15 April 1823 at St John, Sleights (ttanscript only)

Yorkshire Burials - buried 15 April 1823 at Sleights. Residence Ibron Dale.

Original definitely is written as Ibron Dale as are others on the page.

The name would appear to probably be Iburndale per google these days

Original page header says Burials in the Chapelry (Parish crossed out) of Eskdale alias Sleights and the ceremony was performed by John Harding Assistant Curate of Sleights.

Sounds an interesting area - Scotland Yard sent to investigate an 1841 murder and the arrest and trial for treason in 1679 of an 82 year old Catholic Priest who was ultimately hung, drawn and quartered.

34 years was a HUGE gap - IF the marriage and burial records are for the same Elizabeth

Charles was widowed TWICE - at least

Thank you both.

The only record on FMP of a burial in the right location in the time-frame 1784 +/- 5yrs which could possibly be CC's first wife...............sheer speculation ;-) ;-)
