Looking for possible burial place of John MCGREGOR (book binder) born 1829 Paisley to Thomas MCGREGOR & Martha MCFARLANE. Married Ann Blackie MCALPINE 1849 High Church, Paisley. They had two children Elizabeth born George Street, Paisley 1850 and Thomas born approximately 1852 Saltcoats. Family lived in Saltcoats from 1850-1852. John died 7 July 1852 drowned while bathing. I found some information in Paisley Poor Laws dated 1854. Any help would be appreciated.

MELANCHOLY ACCIDENT AT ARDROSSAN.— A young man named John Macgregor, having on Wednesday last gone into the sea to bathe, lost his life in the following manner. Near the baths, at ebb tide, there is a rock at a little distance from the land, the depth of water being then about six feet between it and the shore, except at where a ridge of rock connects the two, and by walking on the top of this ridge the depth is only about three-and-a-half feet. He had gone along this way, and was resting on the rock for a few minutes, during which time the tide was rapidly flowing , and as he was making his way back, he appears to have lost recollection of the exact position of the ridge of rock, and endeavoured to swim to the shore. The tide at this place being very strong, he was carried into deeper water, and, after several fruitless attempts to float, he gradually began to sink ; some persons immediately stript themselves, and endeavoured to rescue him, but in vain. In the meantime, a young man having observed the struggling. and seeing the impracticability of saving him by swimming, owing to the current, with the greatest possible speed ran to the pier, which is at some distance, and having given the alarm to three young men, they proceeded at once with a boat to the spot. The water being very clear, he was easily observed, and quickly got out. He was immediately taken to the baths where everything that medical aid could devise was done for him, but in vain. He was only twenty-three years old, and has left a wife and two children.

His burial isn't showing on Scotland's People.

Thank you all so much. ArgyllGran I have not seen this article so thank you for this. I have contacted a few churches but have not been able to find where he is buried. I will continue contacting cemeteries.
