I have been searching the census. I still feel he may have had an earlier marriage before Rosina Hicks. He was 60 years old when Thomas Noel Hicks Godfrey was born and Rosina was 25 years younger. In The 1911 Census she says they were only "married" one Year.

Not one who is said to be born anywhere near the right area…..assuming he gave accurate info in 1921, which is looking ever more doubtful.

Are there no Thomas Godfrey on the 1851, 1861, 1871, a nd 1881 census.

If there are you need to work through them to see if any of them could be yours. To do this you follow each one through the years. There would be some that are definitely not your one. This is just one of those things that need to be done when trying to work out which is the one you are looking for.

The son was also a music salesman in 1939 (listed as Thomas N Godfrey).

In 1928 he was a medical student - but that doesn't mean he qualified, unless you have proof of that.

How is he described on his son’s birth cert?

And who registered the birth?

Change of name? Or he was never actually a medical practitioner.

In 1945, the son was a music salesman (mother’s Probate)

Not found any Thomas Godfrey in 1901 or 1891 Census with the right occupation in the medical GP field.

The medical practitioner record on FMP for Thomas Henry Godfrey is NOT this man. The record is for a surgeon.

Rosina was in Liskeard with birth family in 1901

Situated on the west side of the Pennines, but historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, Saddleworth has long looked in two directions: over the top, eastward to the towns of Huddersfield, Halifax and Leeds and westward to its Lancashire neighbours of Oldham, Ashton, Rochdale and Manchester.

Time overseas could mean that was where a wedding took place, if at all. Check out ER’s for Thomas Godfrey - you might be able to find a gap covering the wedding time.
Have you not found him on census prior to 1911?

Please can anyone help find any records for Thomas Godfrey. Born about 1850, His son Thomas Noel Hicks Godfrey. was born on 25 December 1910 at 12 Stevens Street Stretford Lancashire, and you will find him with his mother Rosina Hicks on the 1911 Census but Thomas Godfrey his father is not with them. I have not found a marriage for a Thomas Godfrey to Rose (Rosina) Hicks but on the 1911 census she states marriage was one year. On the 1921 census you will find Thomas Godfrey and Rose living at 69 Laurie Park Road Beckenham Kent. Occupation Retired Medical Practitioner. Their son is away at Boarding School in 1921, I have all the records and certificates for Thomas Noel Hicks Godfrey. I also have the death certificate for Thomas Godfrey on 1st May 1935 Park Lodge Roundwood Lane Harpenden Hertfordshire. Thomas Noel Hicks Godfrey was also in the medical profession and I have all of that information and his marriage and children. There is a considerable age difference between Thomas Godfrey and Rosina Hicks of some 25 years.so maybe he has an earlier marriage.? I have been trying to find the correct birth certificate but not yet finding the right one. On the 1921 Census Thomas Godfrey says he was born in Saddleworth Yorkshire. I had hoped by looking at Medical Profession records it may give better details. ? His grandson believes he did work overseas at some point. Thank you Pam
