The first references to The Staniforth's dates back to 1297, when Matilde d'Stainthorpe gets a mention. The name Staniforth is thought to derive from a "Stoney-Ford" and there is a place called Stainforth in North Yorkshire, England. Staniforth's/ Stainforth's are found throughout the UK, but the majority are to be found around the Sheffield/Nottingham area. I reside in the Manchester area. Drop me a line, as I'd like to hear from any other Staniforth's out there!
