It's an old post but maybe it's still of use to you..
According to my reasearch William was born illegitamate and baptised as Powell, -later taking on the name of his father William Prosser Davies 1809-1886. Mother Jane 1815-1898. They had a Jane 1842, my ancester, John 1844 and a Sarah Ann in 1845 and married soon after. In 1851 I think they were still adjusting to the new situation!

Jane Powell was the daughter of Samuel Powell1789-1939, former Yeoman from Whtiney,later Stone Mason who went bust in 1832. Widow Elizabeth is living in poverty with her children and grandson William, maybe that is why they dit not get married? Jane also had an Elenor 1834-1834...
His first wife was Sarah Morgan 1840-1865, she was a widow of Davies and her father was Richard Morgan. Still got to look into it more.

I am trying to find William Davies b. 1840 Gladestry, Radnorshire. He married in 1861 or 1862 and had a daughter Fortune Davies, I am trying to find out the name of Williams wife, Fortunes Mother. When the Census for 1861 was done he was unmarried, by the time the next Census was done he was a Widower with a nine year old Fortune. Has anyone got any help on this one.
