I have the Phillimore Index of Parish Registers. The Index lists the parishes, it indicates the present whereabouts of original registers and copies, and whether a parish is included in other indexes. It also gives registration districts and census information. For example - If your rellie came from a parish called 'Woughton on the Green' which is in Buckinghamshire I could tell you that the original deposited registers can be found at - Buckinghamshire Records Office, County Hall, Alyesbury HP20 1UU, and cover the dates 1556-1997. The I.G.I. covers Woughton on the Green between 1558-1876. Local Census indexes include 1851, 1881 and 1891. Copies of the registers at the Society of Genealogists cover 1558-1812. And the registration district for Woughton on the Green between 1837-1851 was Newport Pagnell. Pallot's Marriage Index covers the parish between 1790-1812. This guide to parish registers covers England, Scotland and Wales. I would be very happy to look up the information on any given parish. THREAD CLOSED FOR EASTER HOLIDAYS Cheers Michelle
