Hi Lorraine have only found one and not in Bermondsey, have printed it below, however there are two around that time in Scotland, as he doesn't appear until 1881 census, is it possible he is living there in 1881 and put that on the census as it was well know that people would put where they lived in case the town would not support them if they became ill or unemployed. He may have been born Scotland, could be way off but have found my ancestors with different birth places on each census depending where they lived. If you want the two from Scotland just let me know. HI Sharon This is the only one I could find around that date, Christening is right time and as that is probably in church records could be right. One of my ancestors according to records was actually christened two years before he was born, so could just be an error on birth date.
