His name was William Henry Appleton, hw was from Whitby in Yorkshire and died 18th July 1917 The battle of Arras in France. |

Thank you for your replies. I was hopeing for a proper certificate, but if what I've just seen on Scotlandspeople is anything to go by, it's just a list. I think I'll save my money and not bother buying credits on the findmypast website. |

You will probably have more information from the CWGC site than you will get on the death certificate. |

I belive you can order the certs. online at the GRO, just like deaths in this country... I think the findmypast website has overseas death registrations . |

Hubby's great grandfather was killed during the first world war. We found him on CWGC website and we've even been to France to visit his grave. |
