Ah, no, it is Carter. If you look on the 1901 census, he is still living with his Mum at 35 and is down as a General Carter.

Yep, looks like a Carter - probably something to do with the mines others on there seem to be working at

Anyone looking for the Carter family from Countisbury/Brendon Devon in 1800's. Trying to find a relation - Dr.Shaw who was living in Horsham in 2011 and visited Countisbury in the same year.

Janice, the "carter" in this case was the person's occupation, not their name.

You have two options:

1 - Search members trees to see if anyone is researching the same people

2 - Start a new post of your own stating exactly what you're hoping to find and what information you already have.

If you're relatively new to the community boards it's always a good idea to read what you're actually posting on and how long it is since there was any activity on the thread.

Just an observation - you mention Carters from the 1800s but a Dr Shaw in 2011 - quite a long time later?
