Go to..... About.com.Genealogy

This site has lots of leads to Polish Ancestry and also gives you details on how to access Polish Archives.

Do you have any names of towns in Poland? Googling the surname/s, or any towns in Poland you may have, can give a lead also.
I helped a lady find her mother's background which began in Poland....by writing to various town libraries and councils over there.Eventually we traced the family, and found that they had walked half way across Europe during WW2 as '
displaced persons'.......

Good luck with your search

Did you ever manage to access Polish records? If so, I would be glad to hear how you did it as I am at the beginning of my search and have so far drawn a blank. Many thanks Karolina Ratajczak

Dear All

Does anyone have knowledge of websites for this.

The above no longer exist.

Thank you.

Dear Tracy

This is a first for me so please be patient.

There are the following websites that provide links to information about individual countries records.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CenEuroGenWeb Project:

www.rootswev.com/-ceneurgw

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

EastEuropeGenWeb.

www.rootsweb.com/easeurgw

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Or there is a 14 day free trial with www.ancestry.co.uk
where you can look up information of different countries
but as always not complete or accurate.

Otherwise, I would suggest you contact the polish embassy
and ask about how the records can be accessed.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes
x

Tracy

Would anyone have any idea how i can access polish records. I have a deceased polish relative and would love to find out about his family and thought a good start would be with his birth certificate but don,t know how to start. Any tips gratefully appreciated.
Many thanks. Tracy.
