Reggie

And I thought I was being so efficient!!

Just returning to my researches after a 'frustration break' of a year or so. The boards seem to have changed, so thanks for helping my new learning curve. I think I'll delay nudging old threads or posting new ones until I've read a few 'stickied' advice threads :-)

GR don't notify responses unless you have clicked on 'watch this'.

And, at the moment, one doesn't even receive notification of PM's

Penny

you don't often get email notification ................ I think it is not yet working correctly.

Easiest ............... look to the left of your screen.

Box headed Tools

Click on My Threads

Up will come a listing of all threads that you have either started or on which you have posted.

You can also filter so that it shows only the threads you have started.

That's what most of us use to find threads we have posted on :-D

Thanks very much Reggie. I'll check thro your info and see if I can make any links.

Sadly, my Mum had died since I originally posted this query, so I can't see if any of it jogs her memory.

BTW, which message board has this appeared on? I assumed it would be on the 'Find Ancestors' board, but I haven't seen it there. Neither did I get the email notification of a response, which I requested, or I would have got back to you sooner.

Thanks again

Can anyone help me find out what happened to Eliz when she grew up?

Eliz was my grandfather Robert's eldest sister. She was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada on 17/03/1878 (parents Henry Barker + Marcella/Margaret/Maggie McLoughlin). Henry was in the army (97th Regt).

1881 census - Eliz res. Shorncliffe Camp, Cheriton, Folkestone, Kent with mother + 2 siblings.

1891 census - res The Alley, Frindsbury, Upnor, Strood, Kent with parents + 6 siblings.

Eliz given as next of kin on younger brother's Army service record (Jan 1904). It reads "Sister Elizabeth, Bangalore, India"

I'm assuming she went to India sometime after 1891. My Mum thinks she married someone from the Diplomatic Corps (I can't find a marriage record in the UK) and had a daughter Kathleen/Catherine. They lived in India for some time, but later returned to te UK.

I would be very grateful for any information on Elizabeth's life post 1891 (especially her marriage), or any suggestions on who to ask?

Many thanks, Penny
