Jean, Taxal Church is within walking distance of my home, if you want any photos of headstones let me know. Taxal is now in Derbyshire. Jenkin Chapel is in the same area, towards the Errwood Valley. I could visit that too. |

My maiden name was Beard and G.Grandfather James Beard from Lyme Handley in the same area. Have got records from Taxal Church graves and Jenkin Chapel, Saltersford. Looks like the name has come around again from my mothers side of family. Thanks to all but confused. |

Pott Shrigley is a hamlet (maybe not even qualifying as that!), but on the junction of the Adlington to Bollington road, with the road towards Kettleshulme is the church. It is right on the corner. It might be worth investigating as to its history. The churchyard is still open, my husband attended a burial there last year. |

I think that the baptism for all the children shown in the 1841 and 1851 Censuses posted on here are on that familysearch site ..... I ahven't opened every record to check. They're all baptised in Pott-Shrigley. |

I used to frequent the Holly Bush in Bollington in my teens, it had a good folk singing night. It's still there! |

Looks like the same family in 1841 but the marriage cert would confirm her father and his job. Hoever there is a well documented tree on Ancestery that lists the same family and her Dorothy's marriage to John on 21 Jan 1856 |

If this is the Dorothy I am looking for then her father could also possibly be my G.G.Grandfather James Beard but I thought his dob was 1805. and I have his wife as Martha. There were so many Beard's in that area erly 1800's. |
