Hi everyone,

Im trying to search for a Jean G Beddoes Born 14/5/1934 in Gosport. I have found the birth record and we know through talking to my mum that she was adopted at birth, due to her mother dying at childbirth and her father unable to cope. I can find no other records matching this name.

Does anyone know if there are any adoption records you can search? And if they would have changed their name?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You cant search adoption records. Only the adoptee has access to their own adoption records .
Have you tried search trees to see if anyone has her in their tree.

Yes i did know that Ethel had four children but can not find any B M or D for them. i only know that Olive Died two years ofter she was born and that Jean was adopted because Ethel died given birth to her.

Its quite possible they were all adopted. Might be worth investing in their birth certs if you are serious about it. If they were adopted, then chances are their names were changed - certainly their surnames anyway. Their birth certs will tell you if they were adopted.

If their certs come back without the word 'adopted' on the end, then you could start trawling for their marriages, in their birth name.

If they say adopted then its another route.

You need to establish the facts before you can move on.

Thelma listed marriages for the other 2 surving children, so they weren't adopted.

Its unlikely that Bev is still looking for replies now as the thread 2plus years old

You can try to make contact by sending her a message .click on her name and the facility comes up

If she still has the same email address she will receive it and can respond .
If she isn't a member anymore what she can't do is to contact you first but she can reply to your contact
