I have discovered that my great-grandparents through to myself as a child lived in the same house. How can I track down the names of the people who occupied this house before us? |

Or census searches by address. |

Many thanks for all your advice. Good idea to look at the neighbours and go further back in the censuses [is that how you spell that?]. My g-grandfather lived in the house in 1901, but I have no idea when it was built. The whole street was pulled down years ago and replaced by flats - ugh! :-( |

Hello June, if you want to give us the address (and your g-grandfather in 1901 for verification) I'll try an address search in the census. |

That's very kind of you MarieCeleste - am I able to do this for myself and if so how? |

If you have a subscription to FMP you will be able to check the address in the census easily. |

Just posting that 1901 as a starting point - comes under Heworth then: |

In 1891 there were just a few buildings on the street so I'd guess the house was built between 1891 & 1901. |

The Cummings family lived elsewhere in 1891 |

Both the 1901 and 1911 census for 15 George Street, Felling, Heworth, Durham both fall into enumeration district 13. |

Thank you all so much for your help - I don't know how my family managed to keep living in 15 George Street, but they did, despite leaving and returning and it does seem that the house was fairly new in 1901, which is a pity. I would have liked it to have been older. Ne'er mind. |
