what information were you hoping to find please?

According to Lancashire on-line parish clerks

http://www.lan-opc.org.uk

the marriage registers for St Mary in Eccles are missing from 1780 - 1802.

There might be a little more information in the registers, since the marriage is after 1754:

- from that date, clergy were required to keep banns and marriage records separate from baptisms and burials;
- the marriage had to be preceded by banns or a licence;
- if it was by licence, you can search for the licence; and
- you may be able to find at which parish(es) the bride and groom were resident at the time of the marriage.

Hi Sylvia! If you are up and about, I should be asleep...

The Eccles marriage is from batch number I03999-2, where I stands for "index".

The records for the original parish church, St Mary, are available on microfiche at Manchester City Library, see:

I'm not sure what other information you expect to find by finding those marriages on other sites.

That is usually all that you see, unless the Vicar has happened to make a comment in the margin!

don't forget that familysearch, aka the Mormon site, have been accessing parish records for longer than most other sites!

it is no surprise to me that you have found information on that site and on no other site!

Just proceed with caution until you can confirm the record via another site.

The Fletcher-Brown marriage on Familysearch is taken from "Church of England. England, Cheshire bishop's transcripts. Chelshire Record Office, Chester, England" (click on the groom's name for further details of the source, and then click on "about this collection").

Genuki's summary of the registers from that parish is here:

http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/chs/churches/grappenhall.html

- which indicates that both the bishop's transcript and the parish register entries should be extant - however, there remains the possibility that there was a transcription error.

Perhaps contact Cheshire Record Office to discover what the original marriage register contains?

Hi

By elsewhere I meant other genealogy websites, but I am trying to find more details out for the following two marriages:

Thomas fletcher to Betty brown on 03/10/1784 in Grappenhall
Or Thomas fletcher to Betty edge on 27/1/1784 in Eccles, lancs

Hi Paul,
The info on Family search.
Are they submitted entries or extracted entries?

If they are submitted, it could be the reason that you cannot find the original.

Not sure what you mean by elsewhere??
For that date you would need to look in parish records for this, but details still might be limited.
Would you like to post who and where this is and people may be able to help further.
