Can anyone tell me how I can find my fathers war record if I do not have his service number? He was in B Troop 44 Commando - WW2 |

Try www.forces-war-records.co.uk/Records. I obtained my father in laws records with only his name and date of birth |

I have looked on www. war records.co but fathers name doesn't appear although many with the same name are listed, does anyone know if I have to look elsewhere as he was with the Royal Marines Special Boat Service. I am doing my best to find his service number as I realise this will be of more help in locating his records. |

This is the link to the Royal Navy, seeing that he was in the Royal marines. |

Lots of WW2 service numbers appear on birth certificates of any children they may have had while serving. |

Thanks Kay, I have just had a look at the marriage certificate but he had left the marines by then so the ray of hope you offered has been crushed, but thank you anyway it was well worth finding the certificate out to look. |
