when i went to the national archives last summer, everyone had to put all their stuff they were taking into the records areas in a large clear plastic bag which they provided, nothing else was allowed in there, and someone sat on a desk at the entrance watching. they provided lockers for jackets etc. more recently at the records office in berwick they didn't seem bothered what i took in. except you are always only meant to take in pencils, never pens. |
