Don't forget FREEREG which has a lot of Scottish parish records - also free.

scotlandspeople is the best, for sottish research but unfortunately is pay per view only, there are no subscription packages, lots of records are avilable though & depending on the date you can actually download the images of BMD's etc.
You can do an initial name search but you have to purchase credits to view details.

There is FREECEN which has a lot of Scottish census records(transcriptions only)not complete(onging project reliant on volunteers) but till useful & FREE.

familysearch(IGI) is free & covers many Scottish Parish records.

findmypast(FMP) has Scottish census records1841--1901,transcriptions only) but is not free, you can either buy credits or take out a subscription.

Ancestry also has Scottish census transcriptions, but it's not free.

Joan.
