I have been trying for nearly 10 years to find the death certificate for my husbands grandfather Enoch Cordon born 1894 in Basford Nottingham. His brothers remember him staying with them in the mid1960s but other than that we do not know when or where he died. Does anyone have any idea how to proceed with this I have tried name derivations without success. Any help or ideas would be much appreciated.

Did he marry again in 1956 ? That could be Enoch that was born in 1933

Where was he living when your relation stayed with him?

Which of Enoch's children was your husband's parent?

Yes he did marry Rose A Thomas and the Enoch Cordon born 1933 was his son who married in 1956 and is my husbands father. When Enoch SNR was staying with his son and family they were living in Kimberley Notts. but where he went after that nobody knows.

The only death I can find is for his son in 2002.

FreeBMD has no second name for him.

Still trying to find him on 1901 and 1911.

Can't find him on FamilySearch either so no parent names which might help with the census.

I've looked on FmyP, but not seeing anything for Enoch Snr, did he have a middle name or a name other than Enoch, that he was known by?
There's lots of Cordon in the Basford area.

I've also tried under Corden and Gordon but I'm sure you will have done that already. Maybe someone can find if he went abroad but if he changed his name .....

Don't give up though. It took me years to find someone I knew existed and who they really were - not who they seemed to be.

Seems odd his son didn't know where he went. In the mid 60s he would have been in his 70s. Was there some kind of falling out with the family?

Was Rose married before? Enoch Jr's mother's maiden name is Storey, but I don't see a Thomas marriage or a birth for her under Storey.

Says he was listed as Hooley in 1901, so we might need to look under other names.

Yes me and Gail are the same person.
Yes Rose annah was married before her maiden name was Stacey.
Enoch olders date of birth is 10/10/1894 and his mother is listed as Eliza Cordon Nurse (Domestic) of Bulwell and he was born in Basford workhouse and she is also a brick wall.
There was some problem and Enoch senior was asked to leave and Enoch younger did not keep in contact with his dad so we dont know where he went.
