Sorry I can't find all death of Ann Jest while I will try to search Thomas Warland later.

Have you been able to find deaths for wife Ann Jest, son James Jest or Thomas Warland?

Isabella married Thomas Warland in 1861 and then she remarried James Jest in 1869 and then she remarried Samuel Payne in 1884. Hope u will realising to look at her marriage by familysearch.com and free BMD.

I think she was a step-mother of Richard Jest.

Do all the censuses just say 'Kent' for his place of birth?

yes that's right, Patchem then I will try to looking all parishs of Kent for James Jest. Yes, Isabella remarried Samuel Payne in 1884 at her age of 50. They were all dead of kids before Richard was born in 1866. I have all census of Jest and some different names. Thank

Have you got him in all the censuses, and his marriage certificates as he appears to be married to Isabella in 1871.
She remarries in 1884, but I cannot see his death?

Is the name 'Jest' often mis-transcribed?
Have you discounted all the 'Guest' births from IGI?

Please I may ask u to looking for James Jest's birthplace in Kent in 1825 but I cant find his birthplace from familysearch.com and genes reunited not free bmd.
