Just wanted to ask would it be to far fetched to be christened 15/16 years after being born, could it be something that could happen.

lots of people were christened when they were adults for lots of reasons.

Yes

Found one that was christened on the day of her wedding.

Perhaps the family had all the children batpised at once

I have found them Christened just before leaving home to go into service or other employment.

It's as the 'girls' say. I'm transcribing baptisms now and Adult Baptisms are quite common.

My g/g/grandfather & his brother had all their joint 11 or more children baptised on the same day. Ages ranging from babies to 16 years old. My. g/grandfather was the eldest at 17 and did not get baptised.

And on the same pages are many more multiple family baptisms.

So not that unusual.

I have a relative who was christened just before she died.

I was one of three Girls all Bapts on ther same day...I was 5 / Sister 3 / Sister 1.

I guess it saves money one way or another.

Where a late baptism occurs it is quite possible that the parish register will have the date of birth as well as the date of baptism.

Yes many do, but on one of mine all the d.o.b.'s on the r/hand page are in the fold of the page and the pages have not been copied correctly, so you can see there is something there on all the records but not able to see.

A lot depends on who or how the copying was done.

Also a lot depends on the vicar whether he was one of those that liked to put dob on. :-)
