"Stock" in Place of Birth on Census form

Can anyone help me with this? My great grandfather who was Jewish, was born in Poland in about 1857. The 1911 Census form states in the section for Place of Origin: "Stock".
Is this the place in Poland or does it mean he was of "Polish stock"?

There are thousands of entries for 'stock' on the census records. Some are coreect, a lot are mistranscribed or misspelt - eg Stock Newington or Stock on Trent.

Looking at Google Maps there appears to be a town called Stok in Poland. Maybe he came from there.

What was his name as I'm not seeing anyone born Stock c1857.

Toba is the wife, born Stock.
If you are looking for Mart's birthplace it is possibly Ungrove (according to FMP)
It could be Vrgrive or quite a few variations. It also may no longer be in Poland.

Or we have the wrong family, as wrong birth year.

Zloty "Stok" is situated on the Czech. Border in the Sth West Poland.
