"Stock" in Place of Birth on Census form

Can anyone help me with this? My great grandfather who was Jewish, was born in Poland in about 1857. The 1911 Census form states in the section for Place of Origin: "Stock". |

There are thousands of entries for 'stock' on the census records. Some are coreect, a lot are mistranscribed or misspelt - eg Stock Newington or Stock on Trent. |

Looking at Google Maps there appears to be a town called Stok in Poland. Maybe he came from there. |

Zloty "Stok" is situated on the Czech. Border in the Sth West Poland. |
