I am not sure if I posted this before, but will put this info here.


Rev J Meek was the Minister for Cambuslang ( Lanarkshire) from 1774 until 1810.
Among his many studies of the parish, he took a complete census in 1807.

I have a transcribed copy of this, which contains every household in the Parish, split ito little areas or hamlets.
The names of every person living in a household is provided but no ages or relationships are given.
From my own research, I realized that Rev Meek had the foresight to enter all married women with their maiden name, and all children seem to be listed in age order... which is a bonus! Additional people in the household also seem to be listed after the children.


I also hold a complete copy of the Mortcloth Schedule
It has entries up until 1854, as statutory records came into force in 1855..
If anyone requires any info from either the 1807 census or the Mortcloth, just ask.

Hi Alot of my family came from Cambuslang but not sure of dates. It is the Reid family but aware there is alot of Reids in Scotland, it would be William Reid born 1736 he married Agnes Mackie Sheila

This family would be little too early for the 1807 census.
There are no deaths recorded for any William Reid in the mortcloth.
No one with a father named William either.
and there is only one entry for anyone called Agnes Reid

Agnes Reid 14 Nov 1796. Three Shillings and Sixpence... no further info

Could find no marriage or births for your couple.
