Has anyone heard of the Withenbery's Navigational Academy- 1843?? My Great x2 great uncle James Prowse was awarded it in 1843 for "perseverance and progress in that science". He sailed to Africa in the William Canynage whilst indentured to Edmund Gwyer from 1841 to 46. He became Master of barque Watkins in Bristol when died in 1858 age 31. Luckily I have original medal and Indenture. |
