Does anybody know how I can add adoptive parents onto the GR family tree?

Do you already have the biological parents? If that is the case, then add a spouse to one of them, say a wife, then another spouse (the husband) to the new wife.

Make sure that you record in the notes section what you have done.
You can always add the adopted child as a new relative, as a child of the adoptive parents, if that is what you want to do, taking his surname from his adoptive father.
