Alphington is a parish.

It was in the St Thomas registration district until 1936, then in the Devon Central district until 1974. Since 1974 it is in the Exeter district.

Look up Churches in Hadleigh

I would imagine there was actually only one Parish Church.

The County Records Office will hold the info

You can do a look up in Lewis (1848):
http://www.british-history.ac.uk/source.aspx?pubid=445
and see:
HADLEIGH (St. Mary), a market-town and parish, in the union and hundred of Cosford, W. division of Suffolk, 10½ miles (W. by S.) from Ipswich, etc..
As nearly all the initial rego districts coincided with the poor law union, so HADLEIGH would be in Cosford from 1837 until 1938q2, after which Cosford was abolished and Hadleigh went to Sudbury RD.
[above editted to fix typo]

There's also an 1850s map at http://maps.familysearch.org/
You can click on Suffilk, list all the parishes, click on Hadleigh, and layer on the civil RD.
