Northern Ireland BDM Certificates?

Thank you all kindly for the input. The John McEntee I am following (my great-great grandfather) was born in Ireland 1840-1845. He married a Mary Ann McAloon (also born in Ireland) in Glasgow in 1870. On their marriage registration his father is shown as Bernard McEntee and his mother's maiden name is given as Mary Bresley. All of John and Mary Ann's children bar one were born in Glasgow. The exception was a middle child (Catherine) born in Eshywulligan Townland, Clones, in 1878 ( I'm thinking they must have visited their homeland on occasion) . It turns out (via 1901 and 1911 census) that McEntee, McAloon and Breslin were common surnames in that townland which leads me to assume that the "Bresley" on the marriage registration is what the Scottish registrar thought he heard. Mary Ann (nee McAloon) died in Glasgow in 1909 and I think my John McEntee then returned to Ireland and popped up in the 1911 census in that same Eshywulligan Townland. This might explain why I could never find a death for him in my Scotland research.
Sometimes these ancestors make my head spin. :-S

Hi William,
The Will I was referring to was written in 1912 but the grant was not issued until 1918. There is no death date for this man named John McEntee.
He left his farm to his brother and just £15 to his wife who was called Mary McEntee

Hello and thanks for the replies:
Anne,
I cannot get an image up from that link but I doubt that that particular John McEntee is the one I was following. The John I was following had a number of children (all in Glasgow) and I am fairly certain my John was alive in 1913. But many thanks for your suggestion.

mgnv,
Many thanks for that information. I was unsure as to which numbers etc were relevant when applying for a certificate or image.

Gina, Thank you for the kind reply. I have sent a message.

Kind regards and a happy and prosperous New Year to all.
Bill

I wonder if this is the same John McEntee, a farmer in Cortenal who wrote a will in 1912 leaving his estate to his brother, Francis McEntee?

An image of this will can be found on Proni:

The GRO(I) index thru 1958 (excl N. Ireland post-partition) is available at:
https://familysearch.org/search/collection/list#page=1®ion=UNITED_KINGDOM_IRELAND

This is your hit:
Citing this Record
"Ireland, Civil Registration Indexes, 1845-1958," index, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FRKP-4NT : accessed 27 Dec 2012), John McEntee, 1841; citing vol. 3, p. 70, General Registry, Custom House, Dublin, Ireland; FHL microfilm 0101606.

Since it was a 1916 rego, one needn't go thru GRONI, who will only sell you the actual cert, but one can go thru Roscommon who also cover all of N Ireland pre-partition.

Thus, one can purchase certs (or cheaper still, the uncertified images of the rego) via:
http://www.groireland.ie/

NB the needed details - name, event type (i.e., B, M or D), year & quarter, Rego District, vol # & page # are all given.

Hello once again.
Could somebody tell me what is the most cost effective way of obtaining historical BDM images from Northern Ireland? I don't really want to get the full legal certificates, just an image of the registrations for my tree records.
I have been given the following information on a death I am looking at

"Name: John McEntee
Registration district: Clones
Event type: DEATHS
Registration quarter and year: Jul - Sep 1916
Estimated birth year: 1841 age (at death): 75
Film number: 0101606
Volume number: 3
Page number: 70 digital folder number: 4201710 image number: 00593"

Does it contain the details I have to supply to the Irish registry office to obtain the correct image or certificate without them having to conduct a search?
Kind regards,
Bill
