There may be a Bereavement Services office attached to the local government office. It may be an idea to approach them, giving them all the details of the deceased available. Invariably, they'll carry out a search for you. |

Remember that as the burial act of 1853 ordered that burials in cities and towns be discontinued, so therefore any church within the city would no longer be the usual place for someone to be buried, Shirley's idea of contacting the local cemeteries office should point you in the best direction. |

You could try the Parks and cemeteries dept of the local Council giving them the details from the death cert. |

Are your sure he was buried and not cremated. Not sure when crematoriums started If he was then a look round the crematorium grounds may yield something. If you go in the office you can view thier records |

True reggie...but on the same day i got photos of the house where my nan was born and also a photo of the house my dad and his dad were born in so not a total waste of time.... |

Thanks Gwyn. Well seems all born and bred in gateshead area. GU says death registered in gateshead. I have even been up there and had a wander around but i should go back now that i have more names in my tree... thanks for you help,,,,, |

Death certificates won't generally indicate a burial place, although address of deceased might indicate a probable area. |
