Finding the cause of death

Hi my great aunt died, aged 31, in Burton workhouse, in 1912,how do I find out what caused her death?

Hi Lynda and welcome to the GR message boards.


You will needto obtain a copy of her death certificate.

These can be ordered from

http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

cost is £9.25 each. Certs arrive in post, about 5 days. You cannot view on line.

To oder from the GRO you need to register with the site.

You also need to quote the reference from the death record. If you don't know how this is done, post the name you are researching and someone will look the deatils up for you.

Apologies if you already have this info.

Don't use any other sites to order certs, they often cost a lot more!
