I am looking for their marriage in Passaic County, New Jersey around 1947 and the birth of their daughter Susan Ann Hitchins in 1947. I Knew Doris' parents well, met both Doris and Susan on their trips back to England but there are no records of them after 1948.
Can anyone help??

It's unlikely that you will find marriage or birth records on line - there certainly isn't a national register; they'd be held by the State, or even the County.

Would you know Doris' exact dob? If she were to have divorced, it might be possible to find her on the SSDI by first name and dob.

Mind you, if her yob is similar to Milton's, she may still be living.

Many thanks for your help. 1948 was the latest I could get but Doris came to Englanbd in the late 60's and I saw Susan in 1955 when her Grandparents brought her to England. After the 1948 records all seems to have gone quiet. it seems in the first years the Grandparents seem to have been in the forem of Susan's life. Its frustrating when my mother (a cousin of Doris was sending birthday cards up to about 1970.

Thankl you for your help. I had seen something about Kevin before with few details but have no idea who the third child was. Doris still seems to have disappeared from the records after 1948 yet I saw her on one of her brief trips to Britain long after this. :-)

Thanks again for your help. It seems everyone but Doris and Susan are recorded. Even Susan is a mystery - she was born in Jan/Feb 1947 but Fred and Annie (Gparents) on Queen Mary give it as November 1948. I have a photo from America with Susan 2 years old on her birthday in 1949. Birthday is therefore 1947? will I ever solve the mystery:-)

It's difficult to find Sarah as she may have married. No marriage record available = no new surname.

If you know the names of the other children, we may be able to find contact details for them. Sometimes we have to go 'sideways' to get to the person.

Thank you for all your help. I didn't consider that I might meet relations at the start of this quest. The Wines branch of my tree goes make to the 1700's and in my case the actual name ended with my Grandmother (Doris Wines Auntie). I shall take on your tip and try to contact Milton's family.
