I have traced a relative back to around 1824 born Yorkshire. are there sites I can go to to find the Birth and parents.

Assuming he married after 1837, his certificate ought to show his father's name and occupation (if known).

In addition to Familysearch, you could also try http://www.freereg.org.uk/
Yorkshire is divided up into North Riding, South Riding and West Riding
