Flip Pal Scanner

At the Genealogy fair held in Northwich, Cheshire on Saturday, I bought a Flip Pal.

Have just tried it and it is brilliant. Did a couple of old pictures and they have scanned really well, also scanned an article out of march edition of Practical Wireless. (Star letter written by OH !! radio ham) Took 4 separate scans to get the whole article. It stitched these together seamlessly
with 1 press of a button.

Very easy to use, clear instructions and I am mega impressed. Well worth the money in my opinion.

At almost £150 for the Flip Pal, a good digital camera might be a cheaper solution!

OK if you can spare that sort of money ................

But I have to wonder why you're plugging it...............

The reason I bought it was our old scanner was bought about 10 years ago and is kept in the spare bedroom connected to the computer there. My husband uses that room most of the time and I am relegated to a lap-top downstairs. I have to go upstairs, scan and then email them to myself so I can access then on the laptop.

Why do you have to be so cynical, I have no ulterior motive. I was just so impressed how easy it was to use and how the stitching worked and I thought other people might like to see my comment - but obviously not. So won't bother commenting again

OllietheOwl - don't be dispondant - I'm always in trouble on the boards.

Just looked up the Flip Pal up - brilliant demo's on the web. I'm so impressed as it is portable. Would be so useful scanning stuff from family members.

Thanks for letting us know :-D :-D

This must be one of only a handful of posts I have originated and I was just so impressed with my Flip Pal I wanted to share it, but as you say, some people must enjoy moaning.

I was really surprised and very disappointed to receive the 2 negative comments and must admit it has made me very wary of posting again.

Sorry - but my posting wasn't intended as a negative comment. Just a note that for a scanner it was very expensive.

In your original post you didn't sayit was a portable machine or why you needed a portable scanner, when a desktop scanner/copieer/fax can be purchased for under £50.

Again, my apologies if you 'mis-red' my intentions.

Ken2, my apologies for not explaining properly in the first place.

Last Sunday I was at the family history exhibition at Olympia - there were 2 stalls demonstating the Flip Pal - seemed to be selling well.

Definately something I'm likely to buy. It is so light and easy to use.
Much better that a digital camera

For large docs the seaming software seems to work well
