had a lovely email from the dept at southampton council with a map and plot number but unfortunatly there was not head stone or marker but at least i know were he is.

Southampton has good computerised records... I have contacted them myself in the past.
I have also previously contacted the crematorium to see if my relative was cremated there. As they were not, I don't know if they also hold records of what happened to any ashes, but I do know that another south coast Hampshire crematorium will even print out a little map of their Garden of Remembrance so that one can find the location where ashes were placed.

What sort of date Karen?

There was possibly a family plot in a churchyard....maybe unmarked. Records will be with the church or nearest archive.

Cemetery plots may be listed online in a nearby cemetery site or will be with the local council ( parks section I think ) and they may be willing to check their records. They may or may not charge for this.

Would you like to tell us who and where you are looking?
