Member Since: June 2006 Posts: 304 Send Message	Would someone like to have a look at the occupation in the 1851 census for :- George Aslett, born 1803 in Hound, Hampshire and still living there. I can't believe I'm reading it correctly, but if so - of what, and how on earth did he make a living out if it? In 1861 he is a pork butcher, so perhaps that's the answer! Sue

	Well, it's still done on farms these days isn't it - must say I've never actually come across this as an occ. before though! Bit of a conversation-stopper at parties. Jan :-D

	I still have the equipment we used on our lambs but agree that I wouldn't have thought it was a full time occupation :-) It is down as an old occupation also mentions gelder http://rmhh.co.uk/occup/c.html
