Hi everyone!
I am having a bit of trouble (well a lot of trouble in fact!) trying to track this Hicks family down. So I thought I would put it out for fresh eyes to see! In short I am looking for any information regarding George Hicks born around 1845 and his father Ferdinando! A bit vague I know but I am just need some advice!
George Hicks Married Isabel Susan Cross Hammond 25 Dec 1864 at St John of Jerusalem in South Hackney London.
On the marriage certificate George is a bachelor and of full age, his occupation is a carpenter and his fathers name is Ferdinando Hicks a builder. George is living at South Hackney at this time.
George had two children with Isabel; Isabella born 1868 and Frederick born 1869.
Now here is the puzzle! George died some time between 1864 and his 1869ish, as his wife has remarried by 1871 to James Drumm.
I have been unable to find George anywhere! On a previous census with his family or alone as a builder! 1845 as his birth year is just a rough guess as his wife Isabel was born 1847. I thought Ferdinando was a bit of a strange name, but alas I cannot find a link to him and George.
I would just like some advice really or any fresh evidence, whether it be one of his childrens baptisms, his death, a birth/ baptism!
Thank you Any advice will be greatly appreciated!
Steph

Ahhhh this is very useful, I hope they are related!!
You think that Ferdinando would be a very unusual name, it appears there were quite a few knocking around!
Thank you!

According to this Isabel didn't marry James Drumm until 1879:
London, England, Marriages and Banns, 1754-1921 about Isabel Susan Cross Hicks Name: Isabel Susan Cross Hicks Estimated Birth Year: abt 1850 Age: 29 Spouse Name: James Joseph Drumm Spouse Age: 32 Record Type: Marriage Event Date: 22 May 1879 Parish: Christ Church, Watney Street Borough: Tower Hamlets Father Name: Mark Hammond Spouse Father Name: Patrick J Drumm Register Type: Parish Register
Edit: Oops, did she also marry him in 1871?
London, England, Marriages and Banns, 1754-1921 about Isabel Susan Cross Hicks Name: Isabel Susan Cross Hicks Spouse Name: James Joseph Drumm Record Type: Marriage Event Date: 9 Nov 1871 Parish: Stepney St Dunstan and All Saints Borough: Tower Hamlets Father Name: Mark Hammond Spouse Father Name: Patrick Drumm Register Type: Parish Register
Edit again: Could it be that the 1871 marriage wasn't legal because her first husband was still alive?

That would be very interesting indeed! I will check to see what her status is in 1871! =)
They are a very mysterious bunch of people!

Ahh I see, I think whilst looking for his death there were a few possibles but my geography of London is not the best.
It states that Isabel was a widow in 1871 =).
I have been able to track down Isabel and one of her children (marriage, kids etc) they spent alot of their time between London and Brazil were James was working.
I cant seem to find out what happened to George and Isabels son Frederick, he is a puzzle!
Thank you Steph

Edit: It says on the record "Buried from the Dead House" Unfortunately there is no age entered in the AGE column on the original document.
