Member Since: July 2008 Posts: 18,042 Send Message	Hi John, welcome to the boards. What time period are you looking at? After 1911 the woman's maiden name is shown on the GRO index. Between 1837 and 1911 then you can often work it out from GRO index as long as the names aren't too common. Before 1837 then it's parish records but, depending where, they may be on-line. Of course, there is also FamilySearch https://www.familysearch.org/ Do you want to give us an example.

Actual marriage certificates would help, but that would mean searching individual Parish records. Does this have to be done physically, or is there an easier way? Thanks John S
