Certainly I have found people described as Visitor or Servant who were in fact related to the head such as nieces or aunts. |

Apologies it was not my intention to 'turn it into a look up thread', my main intention was to comment as re: Step siblings were also called in-laws back then, however I got side tracked when looking up what 'in-laws' Geraldine was speaking of, sorry I do not tread the boards often; hence was not aware there were rules against mixing... |
