Hi, I really would appreciate your opinion on this, on my granddads birth cert it say's he was born Sept 1891 at 20 Hoxton Market Residences Hoxton Old town, parent's William And Sarah Morgan..in the 1891 census i found a William and Sarah Morgan living at 20 "The Tenement's" Hoxton Market...i think this is two written variations of the same address am i right ? appreciate your advice on this, i don't want to latch on to the wrong family but if it's the same it will mean a major break through on my Morgan's... :-) Pam

Seems likely doesn't it.
Have you checked out William's occupation to see if it matches in both cases?

looks very similar . I would be OK with it if it was my family.

have you looked for the family on later census?

What is Sarah's maiden name from the birth certificate, to help in verifying the family?
Thank-you

Hi, thank's for your response's, on the cert it say's William occupation is General Dealer on the census it is Coster Hawker, Sarah's maiden name is Brasher, i found a marriage for a William Thomas Morgan to a Sarah Bracher (with a c) , also have my grandad on the 1901 census with William who was born 1851 St Luke and his occupation look's like Long Publisher could be Song Publisher with children John 1879 Shoreditch and Florence 1887 Hoxton...in the 1891 William is born 1857 St Luke and two of the children are John 1879 Shoreditch and Flora 1888 St Luke's....there are so many similaritie's but just as many differances......Pam

I think 'Coster hawker' and general dealer go together OK, but song publisher is a bit of a difference. Are you sure you have him correctly in 1901?

Just my thought - looking at the area - near where I now live.
It was the time of the music hall rage in London which progressed to other parts of the county.

Loads of my family got involved - from bill posters, char women etc. If it wasn't for the photos emigrant family member sent me I would never have believed it.

Found out since then that for some it was a fast way to make a buck.
That was until the bubble burst and a big musical hall fire in London resulting in costly safety improvements which owners couldn't afford so many music hall closed down.

Had a look at the 1901 census mentoned in the thread - it clearly says on the copy I've got Song publisher book own account with John for his father - meaning he worked for his father

But that John is 22 making his YOB 1879
Not sure at this point who is your actual grandfather
