Milvall Caroline 1870 - ?
Seeing the dates of birth of the children their might has been several wives.
Any information or help on the mother of these girls or where the father originated from would be of great help

As Virginia was born in 1858, I would suggest that her father was probably born before 1840

..........and there is no real reason to think that the girls didn't all have the same mother

Have you considered that he was an illegitimate child, born to a mother surname Matthews, and given the middle name of Maylark as an indication of the name of his father??
