Ackmar Road School for the Deaf

My grandfather attended the Ackmar Road School for the deaf in 1898 aged 3. He was still there in 1894 aged 7.(Ancestry School Admissions and discharges) I am interested to learn more about this school. |

I doubt whether anyone would know whether a baby was deaf or not when registering them |

A physical impairment was seen as something shameful which is possibly why there is no mention of it on the census. |
