Member Since: October 2003 Posts: 36 Send Message	My grandfather attended the Ackmar Road School for the deaf in 1898 aged 3. He was still there in 1894 aged 7.(Ancestry School Admissions and discharges) I am interested to learn more about this school. Thanks. Joy

	I doubt whether anyone would know whether a baby was deaf or not when registering them Also why would it be mentioned on a death cert.....it wouldn't be the cause of death

	A physical impairment was seen as something shameful which is possibly why there is no mention of it on the census. Did your parent or any of your parent's siblings comment on his deafness?
